Get the body to change the letter to attending for 5 years and MS for 3 . . . or you could just forge it (it's righteous spiritual warfare after all) Then you'd be in within the 2 years! . . . plans back on!

blood - a different approach
by inbetween inas often discussed here and on other places, there are many good arguments against the wts blood policy.
basically the distinction between what is a component and what a fraction, is often , and right so, target of critisicm.
however, it can get confusing, especially when apologists like thirdwitness or standfirm argue for any spot of reasonableness in it.

Sheeeite! . . . Mr M, I should 've had a couple more pints before I read that!
I'd been dipped about 6 years before that WT . . . reading it now fair makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up! (shudder)
I can't remember feeling THAT much under seige . . . I don't believe a word of it of course . . . but it's still a little unnerving
And we filled out our little cards at the bookstudy . . . now those pints . . . .

I forgot to add inbetween, that all of your reasoning is absolutely spot on . . . and if you superimpose the above understanding over your quite valid observations, you will soon see that it satisfies all of those concerns

My take on the blood issue is as follows;
Laws on Blood in the OT invariably revolved around the proper disposal of blood. Also, being a symbol of the life that a creature once enjoyed only had significance when that life had expired . . . ie; poured out on the ground symbolically returning the life to God.
To illustrate . . . if an Israelite under law were to syphon collectible amounts of blood from his animals while still preserving them alive . . . for the purpose of an offering . . . what value would that blood have? . . . none at all . . . the "life" it represented would still be in the animal . . . walking the earth . . .alive. Check all the scriptures on blood . . . you will see this understanding coming through time after time via the scriptures.
The implications for using transfused blood are simple and obvious . . . donated human blood from a living donor has no spiritual significance at all . . . it does not symbolise the life from whence it came . . for the life WT claims it symbolises remains in the donor.
WT has it all wrong at first base . . . as you can see it makes all this childish nonsense about blood fractions etc etc (ad nauseum) totally redundant.
The Mosaic law required violators who consumed blood in, say an emergency, to simply wash thier garments and remain ceremonially unclean till the evening. It was/is a symbolic reminder of who is the author and owner of life . . . not some "magic fluid" of itself.
The only area for misconception of this understanding was the decision handed down in Acts 15. The situation here was simply a concession to the jews (in return for allowing Gentiles to keep thier foreskins) for the sake of peace and is in fact an outdated imposition by the older men in keeping with the Law of Moses which the Jews found almost impossible to let go of entirely . . . check the context thoroughly . . . it is a concession and by no means meant to be binding on Christians till the end of time.
The early Christians had the same penchant for rules . . . for they were babes as to matters of conscience. I'm sure you can think of other examples where this situation created problems.
The whole principle of respect for blood was to engender respect for life . . . a purpose which the WT has sucessfully managed to spin through 180 degrees so as to perpetrate unnecessary slaughter.
Hope this makes sense . . . but I've yet to see this understanding successfully challenged . . . run with it for a while and see where you go with it.

Your spelling and punctuation is far too advanced for eldership . . . smacks of a college education . . . practice using smaller words and include plenty of child-like spelling mistakes . . . you'll blend straight in.

i enjoy telling them why i left the religion, the harm they cause, and the benefits of being out of it.. do you express yourself in this way too or is it only me?.

People on the road are going nowhere
I'm on the road to see
If anything is anywhere and waiting
Just for me
Every night I walk around this city
Wondering if I'll ever know
That feeling of being together
When I go . . .
There is a feeling of being together here . . . I like this city.

A question to the ex-JW's...
by losthobbit ini'm curious about what made you realize that your ex-religion was not "true"?.
i've had discussions with many religious people, and they're always trying to protect their beliefs, rather than allowing anything i say challenge what they believe.
was there ever something someone said to you, or something you read that maybe made you doubt your beliefs for the first time, or had a similar effect?.

At a critical point around my exit decision I came across a quote by Albert Einstein . . .
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex, but it takes a stroke of genius, and quite some courage, to move in the opposite direction"
I was so intrigued by this coming from such a source . . . a scientist . . . and I buried myself in the implications of this concept.
Apart from learning a lot on how this man's mind actually worked . . . ie; simplifying matters, stripping away as much of the "smoke and mirrors" as possible and seeing what's left . . . ?
Place into the process the simple priciple . . . "A tree is recognised by it's fruits . . . " and what you end up with is VERY SIMPLE . . . a huge pile of very rotten fruit!

I find it so hard to offer anything constructive to you Searchn . . . it is as you say . . . a dilemma. I have to say something to you if only to encourage . . . many hearts here go out to you.
The behavior of your EH is so reprehensible . . . where is the love for his children?? . . . how can anyone with the slightest claim to being "Christian" delude themselves to this degree??
Give yourself all the credit you deserve . . . because you are on the side of "right" here . . . his 'devotion' to his children seems little more than perfunctory, and now he has a new wife perhaps his need to be involved in thier lives will diminish further. This will have negatives as well as positives . . . but it would be nice if some pressure could be lifted to enable you to concentrate on bringing them up as well balanced children.
Keep close to your friends here in the community my dear . . . you may find, as many have already, that some may be close by and ready to be have practical help . . . so keep posting . . . the short time I've spent here as already delivered me some amazing contacts, helps, and sheer delights

These days . . . very much so. For some time I must confess though, (probably through the "corridor of uncertainty" period), I felt guilty about being condemnatory of the Org. and still tended to make excuses on thier behalf (God, did I really?).
Now I have no hesitation labelling them a dangerous and destructive cult. My extended family appreciate the frankness and feel encouraged to enquire further . . . and I'm happy to oblige.
My sister, whom I recently had a 3 hour long distance call with, finished by saying . . . "I am so pleased that you feel that way now" . . .
I find this very very liberating indeed . . . thanks so much for asking.
